Week 1

Helloooo everyone!  For those of you who don't know I will be in Oaxaca Mexico for the summer proclaiming the Gospel to those you have never heard it.  My team and I are very excited to head out to the village tomorrow to get started.  I will update the blog every time we are back in the city which will be every week or week and a half or so.
This first week has been a lot of preparation.  Since no one has been to where we are going we had to buy basic life necessities that took up most of our week.  We were able to go to the village one day to take a look around and meet some of the people in the village.  We got to meet a couple who have stood very firm in their faith and serve as one of the very few in this village that do so.  The village lives at a much slower pace than my team is used too so we will have to get acclimated to that quickly.  We are all very excited to see what God has in store this summer starting with this first week.
We have been able to explore a lot of the city this week.  Oaxaca is a city of 350,000 people and has some really good food!  We had the opportunity to go with our translator's family to the market (pictures are below) and that was such an experience.  This market is the biggest in the entire state of Oaxaca!  You could find anything you would ever want here...seriously. :)
The biggest blessing of our trip thus far has been our translator.  She is such a wonderful person from the inside out and she loves Jesus very much.  We had an amazing time hanging out with her family this week.  We had two very traditional Oaxacan dishes with them, and it was such an amazing time cooking and laughing with them!  I am so excited to have her on our team this summer and to experience this journey with her.
Stay tuned to this blog throughout the summer.  I will be on Facebook as well for individual conversations.  Thank you ahead of time for your prayers!  We pray that the Lord will be made famous in all that we do and that nothing but He would be glorified.

In much love,  Jordan :)
